Image Of the Day caption:
A view from the bow deck of the 60-foot coastal research vessel Tioga. Traveling at speeds of up to 20 knots, Tioga is a speedy, sturdy workhorse for marine research on the continental shelf from Maine to the Hudson River. Owned and operated by WHOI, Tioga is frequently used to bring researchers and instruments to the Marthas Vineyard Coastal Observatory, to test new instruments and robotic vehicles, and to provide WHOI Summer Student Fellows and MIT-WHOI Joint Program students a taste of seagoing work.
