Caption from Polar Discovery:
Calvin Mordy, a scientist at Aquatic Solutions, prepares his gear on the ice. For working on the ice, the Coast Guard requires special suits that will keep you dry if you fall through. It happens occasionally.
Caption from Image of The Day:
Calvin Mordy, a scientist at Aquatic Solutions, prepares his gear to work on the ice. Mordy is one of 41 scientists aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy on an expedition in the Arctic's Bering Sea. The multi-institutional research team, led by WHOI biologist Carin Ashjian, is there to learn about sea ice and how climate change could be affecting the region's ecosystem. The expedition is being chronicled on the Polar Discovery Web site.
