WHOI oceanographer Fiamma Straneo, along with ten colleagues from WHOI and abroad, called the 130-foot research vessel Fox home during a two week expedition in September off the coast of Greenland. Straneo uses vessels, snowmobiles, helicopters, and her own feet to reach the water at the edge of the glaciers and do her work. "Sea level rise, it's one of the most immediate concerns for global society," she said in an audio slideshow about her work. "I'm studying the role that potentially the ocean has played in driving some of the changes that have been happening with the Greenland ice sheet."
