Image Of the Day caption:
The R/V Neil Armstrong took another step closer to becoming part of the WHOI fleet recently when it had the Insitution's logo attached to its stack. The ship was launched last month and is currently being outfitted at the Dakota Creek Industries shipyard in Anacortes, Washington. The ship is named for the U.S. Navy Officer whose "small step" on the moon provided humanity with a new perspective on our planet. The Armstrong will reach another milestone when it is christened Saturday, March 29th with dignitaries in attendance. The ship is expected to arrive in Woods Hole in mid-2015.
