Image Of the Day caption:
This antique medicine chest was used by the crew of the original Atlantis, WHOIs first research vessel and the first ship built for oceanographic research. The chest retired with the ship in 1964 and now has a permanent home in the WHOI Data Library and Archives (DLA), which is part of the MBLWHOI Library and is located on WHOIs Quissett Campus. The DLA houses artifacts ranging from cruise logbooks to oral histories; from scientific papers to blueprints and maps. To walk through the suite of rooms that comprises the archives is to journey back through the exciting and diverse history of WHOI.
