STUDENTS GET THEIR SEA LEGS
For the past two years, first-year MIT-WHOI Joint Program graduate students have had the chance to plan and run an expedition aboard WHOI’s large research vessel, Neil Armstrong. The cruise, funded by the WHOI Armstrong Endowment, gives students an opportunity to get to know the Armstrong crew, meet their peers in other marine science fields, learn about techniques and equipment outside of their usual fields, and experience firsthand the challenges of conducting research at sea.
