Caption from Oceanus magazine, Vol. 58, No. 2, Pg. 62: COLLABORATING WITH BOSTON BALLET ON NEW PRODUCTION FOCUSING ON THE OCEAN WHOI scientists collaborated with Boston Ballet on a new production celebrating the intersection of art and science to raise awareness of the importance of, and threats to, the ocean. La Mer (The Sea) explores the romance, beauty, and volatility of the sea, and is the result of a team of artists from around the world and ocean scientists at WHOI coming together. Set to Claude Debussy’s sweeping La Mer and choral work Sirènes, La Mer premiered in April at the Citizens Bank Opera House in Boston.
