WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH THE AMOC?
A recent study forewarns that a set of currents known as the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) could collapse within the century. If true, AMOC’s shutdown could have a dramatic impact on global weather patterns and sea-level rise. Three WHOI oceanographers weigh in on whether AMOC is reaching a tipping point and how that would affect global climate.
