ALISS (Ambient Light Imaging and Spectral System) collects data at “L” vent at 9°N on the East Pacific Rise. To focus the camera on a vent, two lasers mounted on ALISS cross at a distance of 50 centimeters (red dot at center) from ALISS’s pressure window.
