Out here, it's not too dramatic to say that there's not a big difference between routine maintenance and a life and death situation. A helicopter is only as good as its thin rotor blades. After a flight, pilot Geir Akse (left) and helicopter mechanic Mart Reskow use a pole to slip protective bags on the rotor blade edges and then strap them down to the helicopter pad deck to keep the blades from flapping on a bouncing vessel.
