Within flight range of the island of Svalbard, helicopter crew Sven Stenvall, Geir Akse, and Mart Reskow flew off, leaving an empty space on Oden's helicopter deck and our hearts. Throughout this cruise, we have been awed by the pilots' abilities and can-do attitudes. Waving goodbye are Julia Linder (left) and Vera Schlindwein, seismologists at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Germany, whom the pilots ferried many times to nearby ice floes to set up, move, and recover temporary seismic recording stations.
