Admiral John Richardson, CNO, visits WHOI accompanied by 7 staff members.
Visit included science briefings in LOSOS conference room, a LOSOS OOI operations tour, as well as briefings on Sentry, a research vessels overview, Gliders and Air-Deployable Profilers. This was followed by a REMUS Lab tour in Smith and finally a working lunch in Smith conference room.

Admiral John Richardson, the U.S. Navy's Chief of Naval Operations, visited WHOI in September, 2016, and received a number of briefings on research, technology, and assets sponsored by the Navy, including WHOI's research vessels and autonomous underwater vehicles such as Sentry and REMUS. Here he received briefings on ocean gliders from WHOI scientist Robert Todd (rear center) and on new ALAMO floats to study hurricanes from WHOI scientist Steven Jayne (front right). WHOI's Chairman of the Board of Trustees David Scully (rear right) joined the tour. This wasn't Richardson's first visit to WHOIhe earned a master's degree in electrical engineering in the WHOI-MIT Joint Program in Oceanography.
