Image of The Day caption:
William Melvin from Cornell University wades into the mouth of the Trunk River in Falmouth to set the anchor for a set of temperature sensors to measure the temperature gradient along the river's outflow. Melvin was taking part in the Partnership Education Program, which was started in 2009 by WHOI and five other Woods Hole science institutions to provide hands-on experience in marine and environmental science to college students, especially those from groups under-represented in those fields.
