Image Of the Day caption:
Ordinary seaman Derek Briggs (right) stands next to a surface buoy on the stern of the research vessel Neil Armstrong in April 2018. The ship had just docked in Woods Hole after servicing the Pioneer Array, one of the long-term installations of ocean instruments collecting data in the Ocean Observatories Initiative. Behind him are three engineers in the WHOI Mooring Operations and Engineering Group who continually maintain moorings and buoys in the observatories: (from left) Jim Ryder, Chris Basque, and Jeff Pietro. Meanwhile, WHOI's other research vessel, Atlantis, follows right behind Armstrong into their homeport in a rare meeting of ships.
