Image of The Day caption:
Engineering technician Amy Kukulya describes one of WHOI's REMUS robotic vehicles to two students (Garret, foreground, and Kenny, left) from the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Mass. WHOI oceanographer Amy Bower (partially obscured) developed an ongoing program with Perkins, including the OceanInsight website, to introduce visually challenged students to ocean science. Legally blind herself, Bower recently received an Unsung Heroine award from the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women.
