Image Of the Day caption:
Brian Hogue (left) and Ben Pietro deploy a moored profiler from R/V Atlantis during a 2010 cruise to Line W led by WHOI physical oceanographer John Toole. Moored profilers travel up and down a mooring cable, continuously taking measurements of water speed, direction, temperature, salinity, and other characteristics. Line W runs from south of Woods Hole to Bermuda. WHOI researchers have placed moored instruments along Line W for several years to learn about important currents that flow near the edge of the continental shelf. This May they will make their final cruise of the current Line W program.
