Image Of the Day caption:
Scientist Ellie Bors (left) and artist Laurie Kaplowitz stand in a gallery at the Museum of Science in Boston before a triptych of wall-length paintings they collaborated to create. The two took part in the Synergy project, which paired scientists with artists to create works of art. Kaplowitz was inspired by the graphs, numbers, phrases, and drawings in the laboratory notebooks of Bors, a graduate student in the MIT-WHOI Joint Program who studies life at deep-sea vents. All told, eight Synergy collaborations resulted in artworks currently on display at the museum until June 2, 2013. See article and video.
