Image Of the Day caption:
The research vessel Neil Armstrong left Woods Hole recently for its annual visit to the Ocean Observatories Initiative Global Array located in the Irminger Sea southeast of Greenland. On the stern of the ship is a Global Surface Mooring, a large, instrument-packed mooring that, in addition to gathering critical data about the atmosphere and ocean, also relays data from the entire array back to shore for scientists and the public to access at any time.
