Image of The Day caption:
Seismologists John Collins (left) and Jeff McGuire inspect an ocean-bottom seismometer (OBS) system from the national Ocean Bottom Seismic Instrumentation Pool, based at WHOI, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory. McGuire and colleagues departed for East Pacific Rise this week on research vessel Marcus Langseth to recover 30 OBSs that were deployed on the ocean floor last year.
