Into the mouths of fjords--
In earlier times, when the ice sheet extended farther and sea level was lower, glaciers carved deep troughs all the way to the edge of Greenlands continental shelf. Today, the troughs provide passageways for warm waters at the edge of the shelf to flow across the shelf into the fjord.
