Image Of the Day caption:
WHOI post-doctoral scholar Ben Harden waits to capture a dramatic moment at sea: A mooring anchor, released off the stern of the British research ship James Clark Ross, sinks to the ocean floor, pulling a mooring line carrying instruments and yellow flotation balls that suddenly disappear from sight as the anchor plummets. Harden was participating in the trip as a videographer to help document the cruise. The research was part of an international collaboration with WHOI scientist Bob Pickart to study ocean currents flowing through the Denmark Strait between Iceland and Greenland. - See more at: http://www.whoi.edu/image-of-the-day/#sthash.SPjuecc4.dpuf
