Image of The Day caption:
Atlantis sheltered a number of cats over the years, including this one held by Atlantis second mate (and photographer) Don Fay during a 1935 research cruise. One cat deserted a Russian merchant ship to join Atlantis. Occasionally, a ship's cat would find seabirds just too tempting, leap overboard, and then have to be rescued by dip net.
