Image Of the Day caption:
Raymond Graham and Ben Pietro of WHOIs Upper Ocean Processes Group work to secure instruments atop a mooring buoy in the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean. The mooring is one of several that took measurements for NASAs Salinity Processes in the Upper Ocean Regional Study 2 (SPURS-2), a multi-institution collaboration to study the effects of rainfall on the salinity and physics of water in the surface ocean. The meteorological tower on this mooring supported instruments to measure air pressure, temperature, humidity, solar radiation, longwave radiation, rainfall, and wind speed and direction.
