Image Of the Day caption:
A U.S. Navy Yard Patrol (YP) boat passes the Navy-owned, WHOI-operated R/V Neil Armstrong as it prepares to dock during the Fleet Week Parade of Ships in NYC last May. By invitation of the Navy, WHOI and the Neil Armstrong participated in the event, providing tours for hundreds of visitors and marking the first time in recent memory that an oceanographic research vessel was included in the celebration. The parade also included five commissioned Navy ships, two U.S. Coast Guard cutters, a Canadian Coast Guard vessel, and four Navy YP boats, which are used to provide at-sea training in navigation and seamanship.
