WHOI's Geodynamics Program fosters interdisciplinary research in the earth sciences among faculty, students and postdoctoral fellows. It is centered around an annual spring semester seminar series and a study tour to visit a location related to the Program's annual theme. In 2011, participants traveled to the Fraser River watershed in British Columbia, Canada. In addition to rafting a portion of a mountainous tributary, participants evaluated how ecological changes in the watershed from the headwaters to the delta may threaten the Fraser River basin as a suitable spawning habitat for salmon.
