MIT-WHOI Joint Program student Mara Freilich demonstrates how salinity affects ocean stratification and mixing at a recent symposium at WHOI. The event, OCEANOS: WHOI en Espa?ol e Portugu?s, brought together Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking researchers from throughout Woods Hole to present their work in either language. Local participants included students and researchers from WHOI, Woods Hole Research Center, the U.S. Geological Survey, and NOAAs Northeast Fisheries Science Center, as well as members of the public. The event also engaged viewers in Connecticut, Florida, Puerto Rico, South America, and Europe via Facebook Live.
