Four generations of WHOI-UNOLS ship schedulers.
Image Of the Day caption:
or the past 35 years, the responsibility of scheduling the comings and goings of WHOI's research vessels has fallen to four intrepid people (from left): Eric Benway, Liz Caporelli, Jon Alberts, and Don Moller. They each served as onshore liaisons, keeping the ships on (or close to) schedule while constantly addressing a variety of inevitable but unpredictable circumstances, ranging from storms and ship maintenance to suprise port closings in foreign countries. "We have a special bond and appreciate each other," said Caporelli, who worked as ship scheduler from 2004 until 2010. Benway has held the position since then.
