R/V Thomas Thompson cruise TN230 on the Kermadec Arc north of New Zealand investigating the biological communities and the geology of hydrothermally active seamounts (using shipboard mapping systems, TowCam, CTDs, dredges, and plankton nets). Annual "education cruise" on which seniors from the Univ. of Washington completed their senior thesis projects. The chief scientist was Rick Kiel. The cruise was sponsored by the University of Washington.
