Image of The Day caption:
Tito Collasius (standing), of the Applied Ocean Physics & Engineering Department, gives Matt Rigney pointers on how to operate the HROV Nereus manipulator arm during a one-day workshop for local and regional journalists in April 2010. On an expedition, the manipulator arm is used to collect water and biological samples, take temperature measurements, and take push cores? pushing cylindrical tubes into the seafloor to take sediment samples? as well as position and manipulate instruments on the seafloor.
