Image of The Day caption:
Aboard the R/V Knorr in the Hudson Strait, engineer John Kemp (left), Knorr Bosun Pete Liarikos (right), and Dara Tebo of the Physical Oceanography department, work to recover a mooring. The work is part of an ongoing project of WHOI physical oceanographer Fiamma Straneo to measure the freshwater flow out of the Hudson Strait and investigate what controls its seasonal variability. Freshwater is a key player in our climate system and small changes in the freshwater budget of the oceans can potentially induce large changes in our climate.
