Image Of the Day caption:
WHOI guest student Margaret DiGiorno returns a core sample from Blackmore Pond in Wareham, Mass., to its place in a refrigerated storage unit. DiGiorno, an undergraduate student from Northeastern University, worked in the lab of geologist Jeff Donnelly on a project to develop records of hurricane striking the East Coast of North America in some cases thousands of years in the past. Donnelly was part of a group of WHOI scientists who received a $1 Million Grant from MacArthur Foundation to develop science-based climate change adaptation solutions for coastal communities in Massachusetts.
