Image of The Day caption:
Associate Scientist Hanumant Singh examines his new "Camper"--the CAMera and samPlER sled--a tethered, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) that was specially developed for research under the Arctic ice cap. The Camper, as Singh and the engineers have dubbed it, was built to capture live organisms (moving or static) from hydrothermal vents that researchers hope to discover this summer on the Gakkel Ridge, which runs across the seafloor of the Arctic Ocean.
