Image Of the Day caption:
The WHOI Summer Student Fellowship program and the Woods Hole Partnership Education Program bring undergraduates to WHOI to learn more about ocean science, attend lectures by Woods Hole scientists, and conduct research working alongside world-class researchers. Its a tradition each summer for students to take a ride on WHOIs coastal vessel Tioga, on which they can experience firsthand a variety of gear and methods to take samples and make observations of the ocean. Here, WHOI biologist Nancy Copley offers hands-on instruction on measuring dissolved oxygen levels in seawater that they had just sampled from Buzzards Bay with a Niskin bottle.
