Image of The Day caption:
Former MIT/WHOI graduate student Mea Cook (now a postdoc at the University of California, Santa Cruz) examines a sediment core taken from the Bering Sea, along with her advisors Lloyd Keigwin (middle) and Jeff Donnelly. With funding from the Oak Foundation and the National Science Foundation, the team of geologists worked to reconstruct the history of sea level in the North Pacific to determine when the Bering Land Bridge was breached.
