Engineering Assistant Jim Dunn, aboard R/V Oceanus, attaches a tagline to a mooring in the Gulf Stream in November 2007. The mooring was deployed as but one part of a large-scale experiment called CLIMODE, designed to probe how mid-level water masses having a consistent 18-degree temperature form and persist in the Atlantic.
