High resolution hydrographic surveys of continental shelf and slope north of Cape Hatteras and deployment of shallow water mooring array.
Image of The Day caption: Mooring technicians Brian Kidd (University of Delaware) and Will Ostrom (WHOI) and physical oceanographer Glen Gawarkiewicz (WHOI) recover the Scanfish, a towed vehicle that measures temperature and salinity in the ocean. The trio took part in a winter 2005 cruise to the tumultuous waters off the coast of North Carolina in order to study the confluence of cold southward- and warm northward-flowing currents that meet at Cape Hatteras.
