WHOI Coastal Systems group and NOSAMS facility staff sampling and recording the paleolithic sediment characteristics at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham, MA.
Image Of the Day caption:
Members of WHOI's Coastal Systems Group and the National Ocean Sciences Accelerator Mass Spectrometry Facility record and sample recently exposed layers on Eastham's Coast Guard Beach. Here, Stephanie Madsen (right) worked with Kalina Gospodinova (left) and Richard Sullivan (center) to sample and record the paleolithic sediment characteristics along one of four transects. Data from the transects was used to create a cross-sectional map of the area to give scientists a better idea of what paleolithic Cape Cod might have looked like.
