Image of The Day caption:
WHOI scientist Hanu Singh and former graduate student Sacha Wichers examine a photo mosaic of the wreck of RMS Titanic. The 866 individual photos that make up the mosaic were taken in 2004 during a cruise led by Bob Ballard of the Institute for Exploration to survey the wreck and gather artifacts. Ballard, a former WHOI geologist, and his team discovered the wreck site in 1985 and returned again with the submersible Alvin in 1986. This year marks the hundredth anniversary of the sinking of the great ship.
