Rear Admiral (ret.) Mike Manazir (far right) and staff visited WHOI last month to tour labs and talk with WHOI scientists about their undersea research and technology development. The tour included WHOI's Deep Submergence Laboratory, where WHOI engineer Mike Jakuba (white shirt) and WHOI scientist Dana Yoerger (gray fleece) briefed Manazir about Nereid-HT, a hybrid remotely operated underwater vehicle that can operate using a tether cable or autonomously without a cable. Manazir was deputy chief of naval operations for warfare systems, responsible for the integration of manpower, training, sustainment, modernization, research and development, and procurement of the Navys warfare systems.
